Our favorite Stuart Little characters came to life today at Ames School! 🐭 Tomorrow is Pajama Day!

We sailed away with Stuart today! ⛵️ Remember to dress up as your favorite Stuart Little character tomorrow!

We're celebrating the final week of One Book One School with a school wide Spirit Week! ⛵️ 🐭 🛌 🐬

Happy Valentine's Day! 💕 🐬

Congratulations to two of this week's Spirit Day winners: Mr. Bookler's 5th grade class and Mrs. Collins's 2nd grade class! 🐬 ❤️

Students in Ms. Redeker’s class earned their civic crowns through their bravery as they have journeyed through learning about the Roman Empire!

Stuart Little's adventures continue! ⛵
🌊🐭
Our One Book, One School mural is growing right along with the story, and we love watching Stuart’s world come to life day by day. Keep reading and see where the wind takes him next! Make sure to keep reading to participate in the daily trivia questions for your chance to win a prize at the end of the week! 📖💙
If you take any pictures of your family reading together, please send them to Mrs. Collins at collinsc@district96.org to be shared on our Ames social media pages! 📸

Good, better, best! Our Ames students and staff are rooting for the Bears this Sunday! Bear down! 🐻

Our fifth graders have been busy creating tiny oceans! 🌊🔬
Students explored what happens when salt is added to water and used scientific evidence to prove that the salt was still there—even when they couldn’t see it. Through hands-on experimentation, they practiced observing, testing, and explaining their thinking like real scientists. A great reminder that in science, evidence matters just as much as what we can see!

Our fifth graders tried their hand at juggling leading up to winter break! 🤹♀️
Juggling is a fun way to build hand-eye coordination, focus, and perseverance and it’s been great to see students challenge themselves, laugh through mistakes, and keep trying. A perfect mix of movement and learning as they wrapped up the week!

2nd grade scientists designed and built snow shovels for their December STEM project! They challenged themselves to build a design that could scoop as much "snow" as possible in 30 seconds. ❄️ Try this at home over winter break! All you need is paper/cardstock, popsicle sticks, straws, and tape.

Our Ames Dolphins made a splash in November and December! 🐬 Our school wide goal was to earn 300 tickets, and we earned 377! Congratulations to the following classes for earning the most "Make a Splash" tickets for their grade levels:
Early Learners- Mrs. DeSimone
Kindergarten- Miss McPherson
1st grade- TIE Mrs. Workman and Mrs. Aiyash
2nd grade- Miss Egeberg
3rd grade- Miss Redeker
4th grade- Mrs. Duve
5th grade- Mrs. Seymour

Just a little note 🎵 of appreciation for our amazing Ames music teacher, Mr. DeStephano! This year's winter concerts were impressive, joyfully showcasing our students' musical skills. Job well done to Mr. D and our K-3 students! You are all stars!⭐️

It may have been freezing outside, but our Ames Dolphins stayed warm and cozy in their pajamas today!
