Good, better, best! Our Ames students and staff are rooting for the Bears this Sunday! Bear down! 🐻

Our fifth graders have been busy creating tiny oceans! 🌊🔬
Students explored what happens when salt is added to water and used scientific evidence to prove that the salt was still there—even when they couldn’t see it. Through hands-on experimentation, they practiced observing, testing, and explaining their thinking like real scientists. A great reminder that in science, evidence matters just as much as what we can see!

Our fifth graders tried their hand at juggling leading up to winter break! 🤹♀️
Juggling is a fun way to build hand-eye coordination, focus, and perseverance and it’s been great to see students challenge themselves, laugh through mistakes, and keep trying. A perfect mix of movement and learning as they wrapped up the week!

2nd grade scientists designed and built snow shovels for their December STEM project! They challenged themselves to build a design that could scoop as much "snow" as possible in 30 seconds. ❄️ Try this at home over winter break! All you need is paper/cardstock, popsicle sticks, straws, and tape.

Our Ames Dolphins made a splash in November and December! 🐬 Our school wide goal was to earn 300 tickets, and we earned 377! Congratulations to the following classes for earning the most "Make a Splash" tickets for their grade levels:
Early Learners- Mrs. DeSimone
Kindergarten- Miss McPherson
1st grade- TIE Mrs. Workman and Mrs. Aiyash
2nd grade- Miss Egeberg
3rd grade- Miss Redeker
4th grade- Mrs. Duve
5th grade- Mrs. Seymour
