Mr. Salva Dut reached out to us to personally thank our 5th grade advanced ELA students for contributing to such a worthwhile cause and winning the Iron Giraffe Challenge. Mr. Salva Dut was one of the "Lost Boys of Sudan", and his life story inspired the novel A Long Walk to Water by Linda Sue Park. Salva went on to establish the foundation Water for South Sudan. The Ames Elementary School community, through the organization and guidance of our twelve advanced ELA 5th grade students, raised $1400 for this very worthwhile cause!
